Collection for Shaheedi Gallery

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—It’s been three and half years since work is in progress on a portrait gallery in memory of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, his aides and sangat who attained martyrdom while defending the holiest Sikh shrine, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has failed to ensure completion of the gallery.

The gallery is under construction in the basement of a gurdwara constructed as a memorial of these martyrs. The SGPC handed over the ‘Kar Sewa’ of the gallery to the Sikh seminary Damdami Taksal (Mehta) in June 2017. However, this project is being delayed inordinately and still far from completion. The SGPC which is the custodian of this project has failed to have a check on it.

Frames fitted in the under construction shaheedi gallery

Presently, much of the civil work is pending and the frames on which the portraits are to be installed, are being fitted. Taksal continues to collect the money from the devotees visiting Sri Harmandar Sahib in the name of this gallery. Two golaks (donation boxes) are placed in the complex of the shrine for this collection, yet the project is being executed at snail’s pace, thereby irking the Sikh bodies.

Taksal’s representatives disclosed many times about the finalization of the list of those whose portraits are to be displayed there, but no further progress is witnessed. Taksal’s chief Harnam Singh Khalsa has assured many times to finish this project but all these assurances have proved to be false so far. The SGPC fixed no deadline for the completion of the project.

Apart from the portrait of Sant Bhindranwale, that of Bhai Amrik Singh, Major General Shabeg Singh, Bhai Mehanga Singh Babbar and other Sikh fighters will also be displayed. They fought against the Indian armed forces during “operation bluestar”, code name given to the army attack on the shrine complex targeting Akal Takht Sahib, the highest Sikh temporal seat.

The then SGPC chief Kirpal Singh Badungar inaugurating work of the shaheed gallery in 2017

This is the major project as the Indian government dubs these fighters, martyrs of the Sikh community, as “terrorists”. The anti-Sikh forces made hue and cry when the memorial was built up there highlighting the names of Sant Bhindranwale, Bhai Amrik Singh, Major General Shabeg Singh and Baba Thara Singh. At the time of its inauguration in 2013, the SGPC, which is controlled by the Shiromani Akali Dal that was in power in Punjab then in alliance with BJP, had expressed unease at a plaque and two slabs with Bhindranwale’s name installed at its entrance. Certain leaders of the BJP and the then opposition Congress had opposed it, terming it “anti-national”.

Sewa of this gallery was handed over to Taksal during the regime of the then SGPC chief Kirpal Singh Badungar.

Gallery established at Durgiana Temple

On the other hand, a parallel gallery is near completion at the Durgiana Temple in the same city in memory of those who played a role against the Sikh struggle and were allegedly killed by the Sikh militants for the same.

The portraits of Hindu extremists besides leaders of the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who were killed by militants in the 1990s, are also being put up in the gallery, it is learnt. Nearly 100 portraits with a brief description have been installed.

The gallery is in the vicinity of the Harbans Lal Khanna Samarak, the BJP’s district-level office. The memorial was built in the memory of Harbans Lal Khanna, the Amritsar BJP chief and former MLA, who was killed by suspected militants in 1984. Khanna’s portrait has also been put up in the gallery. Khanna was the man who broke model of Sri Harmandar Sahib.

An old photo of former MP Harinder Singh Khalsa when he joined BJP at New Delhi

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—In a big jolt to the Bharatiya Janata Party, its major Sikh face and former Member of Parliament (MP) Harinder Singh Khalsa has quitted the saffron party in protest against three farm laws recently legislated by its government in Centre.

Before joining the BJP in presence of the then Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Khalsa was Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP from Fatehgarh Sahib. had won the 2014 Lok Sabha polls on AAP’s ticket, but was suspended from the party in 2015. Earlier, he was elected as MP from Bathinda in 1996 on the ticket of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

While resigning from the party, Khalsa also disclosed its bad intentions towards the farmers stir. He said the BJP government had chalked out several strategies to remove the agitation of the farmers on the borders of national capital Delhi. He said the government will get this agitation prolonged and then break unity in the farmers and defame them. “If it still fails to remove the protests, it would not hesitate to use power against the farmers”, he added.

He also disclosed that the BJP leader Harjit Singh Grewal had told the BJP highcommand that the laws had made it difficult for them to enter the villages in view of the anger over the laws.

Notably, Khalsa is considered close friend of Union Minister for Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri, former IFS officer and Indian envoy in United Nations (UN). Puri played key role in taking Khalsa to the saffron party.

He came in limelight first when he resigned from the post of Indian envoy in Norway in protest against army attack on Sri Harmandar Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib in June 1984.

Khalsa started his career as an English lecturer at the G.G.N. Khalsa College, in Ludhiana. During his academic career (1964-1974), he published two textbooks: A Manual of General English and Social Science. In May 1974, he joined the Punjab Civil Services. In July 1974, he joined the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and worked as a Second Secretary in Jakarta. Later, he served as a First Secretary in Bangkok and Norway.

As the Congress government filed some cases against him after he resigned from the post in Norway, he decided to stay there, running a small eating joint and working as a postman in Norway. He returned to India in 1990, after being assured that the cases against him would be dropped.

During 1990-91, he served as the Chairman of Punjab Human Rights Organization, an NGO  that highlighted the excesses committed by the state government during the anti-insurgency operations. During 1991-03, he served as a secretary of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).

As the farmers turned up to disrupt the BJP meeting on Friday, a cop helping a BJP worker flee from the venue in Mukerian in Hoshiarpur district

CHANDIGARH: Youth Akali Dal (YAD) President Parambans Singh Romana today said chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh had turned the Punjab Police into a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Protection Force on the directions of union home minister Amit Shah.

In a statement here, the YAD President said it was shocking that Punjab Police personnel had been removed from active duty and assigned to protect the houses and business establishments of BJP leaders by the Congress government in Punjab on the directions of the union home minister.

“With the sword of the Enforcement Directorate hanging over the chief minister and his family, Capt Amarinder Singh has chosen to work as an agent of the BJP and has forgotten that he is the custodian of Punjab and Punjabis. We condemn this abject surrender and warn the chief minister that in case he does not reassign Punjab Police personnel to active duty it will have to face the wrath of Punjabis who will not tolerate this cowardly act”.

Romana also condemned the manner in which the Congress government bent backwards to appease BJP State President Ashwani Sharma today during his visit to Bathinda today. He said police force from four districts was assigned to protect Sharma at the cost of policing duties.

Stating that this skewed policy was having repercussions on the law and order situation, Romana said there was a surge in crime including snatchings, robberies and dacoities. He said in case the State continued with the current policy things could take a turn for the worse and the very peace of the State could be threatened.

Asking the chief minister to spell out why he had abjectly given in to the demands of the union home minister, Romana said “your cravenly behavior indicates that you are ready to board the BJP bandwagon yourself. You have given credence to this belief earlier also by scrapping a planned protest in favour of agitating farmers at the Raj Ghat. Even as the farmers of Punjab are protesting at the border with Delhi, you have refused to lend your support to them and have not even mustered the courage to demand the central government listen to the farmers and resolve their grievances at the earliest”.

On the other hand, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also condemned the Punjab Police for becoming the protection force for the BJP workers.

BJP national gen secy faces backlash for calling agitating Punjab farmers ‘Urban Naxals’

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Tarun Chugh is facing backlash from the civil society of Indian union for calling agitating Punjab farmers “Urban Naxals”.

While addressing a small meeting of the party workers in his home turf, Amritsar central assembly constituency, Chugh stated that the “Urban Naxal” are spearheading the agitation against three farm laws legislated by the saffron party-led union government of Indian union. The meeting was held to make the people aware of the so-called benefits of the laws.

However, there was hardly any farmer in the meeting. Chugh also asked the audience to use social media for spreading the positive impact of the laws against which thousands of farmers have converged at the borders of Delhi for the last around month. He also stated that the agitating farmers want to disrupt development activities in Punjab.

Notably, the national level leader of the saffron party could not organize a big gathering even in his stronghold.  He has faced a debacle from this assembly segment in the assembly elections twice.

Earlier, the BJP leaders have termed the agitators “terrorists”, “anti-national” and “ISI-backed”.  These malicious and derogatory terms are inviting criticism for the BJP worldwide.

‘PARTY THAT CAN’T DISTINGUISH BETWEEN CITIZENS FIGHTING FOR THEIR RIGHTS AND TERRORISTS HAS NO RIGHT TO RULE’

Lambasting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over these tags, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday asked the party to stop maligning the farmers and their genuine fight for justice by calling them offensive names like `Urban Naxals’, `Khalistanis’, `Hooligans’ etc.

“If the BJP cannot distinguish between anguished citizens fighting for their survival and terrorists/militants/hooligans, it should give up all pretense of being a people’s party,” said the Chief Minister. A party which treats citizens exercising their democratic right of protest as Naxals and terrorists has lost all right to rule over those citizens, he added.

Hitting out at Chugh over his petty description of farmers in Punjab as `Urban Naxals’, Captain Amarinder said with these remarks, the BJP leadership had hit a new low in its desperation to promote its political agenda. He pointed out that such protests by angry farmers were taking place not just in Punjab but also in BJP-ruled states such as Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. “Do the farmers protesting in all these places look like Naxals to you? And does that mean law and order has collapsed everywhere?,” he asked Chugh.

“What is being seen in all these states, as well as the Delhi borders, is the sorry fall-out of the BJP-led central government’s failed policy on Agriculture, and its mishandling of the situation triggered by the farmers protest,” said the Chief Minister. Instead of heeding the plea of the `Annadatas’ and responding to their concerns, the BJP was busy trying to demean them and stifle their voice, he lamented.

The Chief Minister noted that the farmer leaders themselves believed, and were stressing, that it was imperative for the success of their movement to ensure that it remains peaceful. “Is that the language of Naxals, as Chugh is alleging?” he asked, dubbing the BJP leader’s remarks as a shameless reflection of his own cheap and vicious mentality.

In sharp contrast to the BJP, the Congress believed in upholding the people’s Constitutional right of peaceful protest, which even the Supreme Court had validated in the context of the farmers’ agitation, the Chief Minister said. “But the BJP and its leaders like Chugh seem to be bent on stifling all such protests with their brazen lies and false propaganda,” he added.

The Chief Minister also took a dig at Chugh’s plea to the Union home ministry ‘to keep an eye on such developments in Punjab’, saying that it would been better for the state if the BJP leader had sought the Centre’s support in keeping any eye on the fresh spurt of terrorist movement, as well as smuggling of weapons, in Punjab.

SAD ASKS STATE BJP TO APOLOGIZE FOR SLUR AGAINST FARMERS

“It is reprehensible that the Punjab BJP unit has fallen so low that it is calling the farmers of the State urban naxals. This insult is intolerable and I advise the Punjab unit to take back this slur inflicted on the ‘annadaata’ immediately and apologize for the same”, SAD Kisan Wing President Sikandar Maluka said in a statement here.

Op/Ed: SAD remained part of damaging federal structure for 30 years, but now comes out to ‘save’ it

$

Under the control of the Badal family, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) staying in alliance with the Hindu extremist political party BJP that wants to snatch powers from the states of the Indian union, for 30 years has remained part of damaging and weakening the federal structure. After harming this structure for three decades, its leadership has now come out to save it.

Under the pressure of Punjab farmers who are its major vote bank, the SAD snapped 30-year old ties with the saffron party in the month of September over three farm laws enacted by the BJP-led union government of India. These laws were supported by it earlier.

This party that fought for the federal structure before Parkash Badal brought ideological shift into it by scrapping its status of the Sikh party, was also with the BJP when the special status of the Jammu and Kashmir was abrogated. It was the largest attack on the ethos of decentralization in the history of this country after 1947.  Now, the incumbent party president Sukhbir Badal is mobilizing the regional parties of India against the ongoing process of the centralization of powers. Promulgating three agriculture laws is fresh instance under this process.

Sukhbir has called for a united nationwide initiative for fighting “autocratic” tendencies and for the setting up of a genuinely federal structure in the country.

In a letter of solidarity with the West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) Chairperson Mamata Banerjee on the eve of the TMC farmer rally, Badal said Punjab and West Bengal had always led the country’s fight for genuine fiscal executive and political autonomy to the States for making India a strong federal country.

“We must continue with this tradition and invite more like minded parties to take a stand for a genuine federal structure in the country in keeping with the sentiments of our constitutional makers. For too long have we allowed the powers of the States to be eroded in one way or another due to which things have come to such a pass that the centre has also legislated on a State subject – agriculture, which has resulted in the ongoing Kisan mass movement in the country”, he said.

While extending his best wishes to Ms Mamata Banerjee for the success of her fight for farmer rights, Badal also congratulated her for sending a five member team of TMC MPs to hold talks with protesting farmers as well as interacting directly with the farmer leaders today.

“You have also strengthened the farmer agitation by announcing a series of street protests from next week to demand revocation of the three hated Agricultural laws. This will go a long way in making the farmer movement a truly national movement”, he added.

Badal said the SAD has always been a champion for more powers to States as State governments were more qualified than the remote centre to understand and address peoples’ problems. “SAD has made super sacrifices both for the farmers’ cause as well as for the pressing issue of federalism. Both issues require a joint national effort on the part of regional and right thinking national parties. I am confident that with the forceful support you have lent to the farmer agitation our joint effort to force the BJP led central government to repeal the farmer laws will meet with the desired success”, he said.

The SAD President also informed the TMC leader that the party had formed a three member sub-committee comprising senior leaders Balwinder Bhundur, Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra and Sikander Singh Maluka to coordinate with likeminded parties on this issue. He said besides meeting the TMC chairperson, the committee members had also met Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar. He said the SAD would continue with its efforts to form a joint front to force the BJP led central government to repeal the three Agri Acts.

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The agitating farmers of Punjab have announced to fully boycott BJP leader Harjit Singh Grewal who has been trying to justify the contentious farm laws since day one. The Bharti Kisan Union Ekta (Ugrahan), Bharti Kisan Union Ekta (Dkonda) and villagers of Dhanaula constituency have asked the lessee farmers not to take Grewal’s land on lease.

On December 27, the agitating farmers installed boards in Dhanaula area asking lessee farmers not to take Harjit Grewal’s land on lease and boycott him completely.

Interacting with media on this occasion, Bharti Kisan Union Ekta (Dkonda) leaders said that Harjit Grewal has back-stabbed the farmers by speaking against the farmers struggling for their existence. They added that they have announced to completely boycott Harjit Grewal and no lessee farmer should take his farming land on lease.

“If any lessee farmer goes against us and take Grewal’s land on lease then he too will have to face boycott,” they clarified.

They further said that they were installing the boards to raise awareness among farmers about this boycott of Harjit Singh Grewal.

Public anger still persists against Badals, despite exit from power in Punjab, Centre

—Even as Badal family-controlled Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has no longer remained in power in Punjab and Central government of India, it is still facing people’s anger that is generally faced by an incumbent political party.

This anger was witnessed on Monday when the party president Sukhbir Badal came to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib after the conclusion of Shaheedi Sabha organized there to observe martyrdom of younger Sahibzade of Sri Guru Gobind Singh.  During his visit, he was shown black flags by the Sikh youths and farmers.

He was addressing the media in the gurdwara guest house when a group of youths present outside started raising slogans against him and the Modi government. To prevent any untoward incident, the police hurriedly escorted him to his car from the back gate of the gurdwara. However, the youths continued raising slogans against him and also chased his vehicle. As Sukhbir left the place, the local SAD leaders had to face the wrath of the youths. Protestors raised the point that the Badals were part of the conspiracy to promulgate three laws to ruin the farmers.

A day after the protest, the party blamed the ruling Congress for this incident. “Congress goons had not only hurt the sentiments of the Sikh ‘sangat’ by their reprehensible acts but had also insulted the tradition of ‘langar’ by upturning utensils of tea made for devotees”, senior party leaders Prem Chandumajra and Daljit Cheema said in a press statement.

Refuting this blame, Congress MLA from Fatehgarh Sahib and Cabinet Minister Kuljit Singh Nagra said, “Guru Sahib will not forgive us if we were behind this incident”.

However, this is not the first such protest the SAD president faced after the party was defeated by Punjab voters in 2017 assembly elections.

In September 2017, Sukhbir faced protests the moment his vehicle entered the main road leading to the venue of the party’s workers meeting at Faridkot , with the Sikh protesters waving black flags and raising slogans against him. At the venue, police presence prevented the situation from going out of hand, though tension prevailed for 15 minutes.

The anger still prevails against Badals as they have not been punished for what they did in their 10-year last regime in Punjab. Sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib in Bargari village of Faridkot and killing of two Sikh protesters by Police at Behbal Kalan took place in their regime and the Sikhs are waiting for justice in this case. As Sukhbir had charge of homo affairs in the state and is allegedly responsible for ordering firing that killed two protesters, no action has been taken against him so far.

In case of three farm laws, Sukhbir and his wife Harsimrat Badal who was union minister then, supported the legislation of the laws at cabinet level, when the SAD was an ally of the BJP in centre. Though the SAD left the saffron party under their pressure, the people of Punjab still consider them guilty of the wrongdoing.

Akal Takht asks Navjot Sidhu to apologize for hurting Sikh sentiments

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—The Akal Takht Sahib, the highest Sikh temporal seat, today asked cricketer turned politician and Congress MLA Navjot Singh Sidhu to apologize for wearing a shawl carrying Sikh religious symbols. This act has hurt the Sikh sentiments, the Takht Sahib cited.

Courting a controversy, he appeared at a public event on December 27 in a shawl carrying Sikh religious symbols Sandhawala village in Jalandhar district. He shared a video of his visit and interaction with residents of the village, wherein he is wearing a Magenta shawl carrying ‘Ik Onkar’ and ‘Khanda’ embedded on it.

Soon after, social media was flooded with messages, condemning his act. Despite the objections raised by the members of Sikh community, he again shared his pictures which show him in the same shawl. Today, the Sikh activists led by Paramjit Singh Akali lodged a complaint to the highest Sikh temporal seat.

The Sikh activists demanded stringent action against the Congress MLA from Amritsar east. “What he has done is the sacrilege of gurbani,” said Akali.

Acting on the complaint, Giani Harpreet Singh, SGPC-appointed acting jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, said, “This act of Navjot Singh Sidhu is very unfortunate. Being a Sikh, he should have known that this is against the Sikh maryada. He has hurt the Sikh sentiments by doing so. This is a condemnable act and he should apologize to the Sikh community for his blunder”.

SGPC general secretary advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka said, “This is very unfortunate. He is known for such acts. ‘Ik Onkar’ cannot be printed on a cloth meant for wearing. We shall urge Akal Takht jathedar to summon Sidhu to the Takht. Sidhu knows the sacred nature of this symbol, but he is deliberately committing these mischievous acts. He will have to pay for it.”

A former BJP MP, Sidhu had gained popularity among the Sikhs after he hugged Pakistan army chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa during the oath-taking ceremony of Imran Khan as Prime Minister. Sikhs hailed him after he said that Bajwa had promised him the opening of the Kartarpur corridor in 2017. And Pakistan delivered this promise. Main credit of corridor’s opening is given to Sidhu as it is perceived among the Sikhs that their long pending demand could be met due to his old friendship with Imran. Sidhu is also hailed for his stand against the inaction by Captain Amarinder Singh government against the culprits of Bargari sacrilege and Behbal kalan Police firing that killed two Sikh protesters. However, he is drawing criticism over his fresh act.

“These organisations are based on the Sikh principles of Sarbat da Bhala, which is the concept of the wellbeing of all humanity. Modi Can’t Tolerate Targeting of Reliance Jio’s Mobile Towers

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—A serene scenario of Corporate giants’ impact on the Indian government has come to fore within two days after the outraged farmers disconnected power supply of only 9% mobile towers of Reliance Jio in Punjab. Interestingly, the Indian PM Narendra Modi has himself appealed the protesters for not destroying the “public property” while indirectly pointing towards targeting of Reliance Jio’s towers in Punjab.

Dubbing the disconnection of power supply to Reliance Jio towers as “an attack on the national property”, Narendra Modi said that harm to “public property” is an attack on common man.

To date, outraged farmers have disconnected the power supply of around 1600 out of the total 18,000 mobile towers of Reliance Jio in Punjab.

Astoundingly, hardships of more than 5 million farmers protesting in this unbearable cold weather is a small thing for the Indian PM Narendra Modi but the disconnection of power supply to only 9% mobile towers is intolerable for him.

Today, Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore has summoned the Chief Secretary as well as DGP Punjab in the wake of disconnection of power supply to Reliance Jio’s mobile towers in Punjab. It is clear that the pressure on Punjab Governor to control targeting of Reliance Jio towers is coming from Centre.

Sikh24 doesn’t endorse the use of illegal means to get one’s demands fulfilled but this episode has definitely exposed who is controlling the “world’s largest democracy”.

Meanwhile, a freelance journalist Sandeep Singh (@PunYaab) who has become the social media face of the protests at various Delhi borders said that the Government is taking a strong notice of vandalizing of Jio towers, which it claims are public property, however, the Government itself has dug up roads leading to Delhi. He posted that the roads are public property, not the Jio towers.

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Acting quickly on the directions of SGPC appointed acting Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has tendered an apology for wearing a shawl having Sikh symbols ੴ and Khanda. Yesterday, Giani Harpreet Singh had asked Navjot Sidhu to tender an apology for hurting Sikh sentiments through his act.

“Shri Akal Takht Sahib is Supreme, If I have unknowingly hurt the sentiments of even One Sikh, I apologise !! … Millions wear the revered Symbols of Sikhism on their Turbans, Clothes and even carve Tattoos with Pride, I too as a humble Sikh wore the Shawl unintentionally,” tweeted Navjot Sidhu today.

In his apology, he has also tried to highlight that his act was not different than millions of other people who wear symbols of Sikhism on their turbans, clothes and even carve tattoos on their body.

It may be recalled here that Navjot Singh Sidhu had worn this shawl while appearing in a public event in village Sandhanwal of Jalandhar district on December 27.

On December 29, SGPC appointed acting Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh had condemned Navjot Sindh Sidhu’s act of wearing this shawl while directing him to apologize.

A number of Akali leaders tried to use this act by Navjot Sidhu to divert attention away from the farmers protest, however, Navjot Singh acted swiftly and apologized.

Giani Harpreet Singh had said that Navjot Singh Sidhu must have known that wearing such kind of cloths was against the Sikh code of conduct. He has asked Navjot Sidhu to seek an apology for this act.

It is pertinent to note here that a large section of Sikhs was complaining against Navjot Sidhu’s this act after Sidhu’s visuals surfaced over social media.

Jagir ‘Kaur’ cries over protest faced by Sukhbir at Fatehgarh Sahib

Ex-SGPC President Jagir Kaur

FATEHGARH SAHIB, Punjab—Feeling heat of the protest faced by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD-Badal) president Sukhbir Badal at Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib on Monday, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Jagir ‘Kaur’ today cried over the incident that left the entire Badal faction in an embarrassment.

After the conclusion of Shaheedi Sabha organized at Fatehgarh Sahib there to observe martyrdom of younger Sahibzade of Guru Gobind Singh, Badal was addressing a press conference in the gurdwara, when he was shown black flags by the Sikh youths and farmers. Protestors shouting slogans against him raised the point that the Badals were part of the conspiracy to promulgate three laws to ruin the farmers.

However, Jagir ‘Kaur’ strongly condemned the sloganeering in front of the gurdwara alleging that this was a handiwork of some mischievous people. She demanded from the police to take stern action against those who have committed this act.

In a statement issued here, the SGPC chief said, “It was against the spirit of the Shaheedi Sabha to injure the faith of the sangat which had arrived during the Shaheedi Sabha. The day is attached with the sentiments of the sangat and on this occasion, the sangat remains in a feeling of vairag. Meanwhile, those who pursued political interests by sloganeering should have thought of respecting sahibzade and Mata Gujri Ji.”

SGPC president said that a complaint has been lodged in this matter at the local police station through the manager of Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib.

“The police should identify the people concerned and take strict action against them. No one should be allowed to spoil the atmosphere inside Guru Ghars (gurdwaras)”, added the SGPC president.
