CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Speaking with Sikh24, a source close to Bhai Wadhawa Singh Babbar disclosed that Babbar Khalsa International will be issuing a statement regarding Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara’s letter in the coming days.  On the basis of anonymity, a source identified that the wording in Bhai Tara’s letter closely resembles the writings of another senior Singh who is living abroad.

“Many pieces of information disclosed in the letter pre-date Bhai Tara’s involvement in the sangharsh, which casts doubt over how he would know of these specific details.  These include facts from the early 1990s,” said the source. “Once we have further investigated details of elements of the letter, a statement will be issued by Bhai Wadhawa Singh Babbar.”

This past week, in a surprising revelation, chief of the Khalistan Tiger Force Jagtar Singh Tara had accused Babbar Khalsa International’s chief, Wadhawa Singh, as being responsible for his arrest from Thailand. Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara has released a letter from Burail jail in which he has said that Wadhawa Singh Babbar informed the Indian agencies about his visit to Thailand. The letter, written in Gurmukhi, states that he was arrested at the behest of Wadhawa Singh, who currently resides in Pakistan.

Sources have revealed that the letter states that Wadhawa Singh’s son, Jitender Bir Singh, alias Kaka, was in touch with Tara when the latter was in Thailand. Tara also alleges that Wadhawa Singh and his family are living a life of luxury, while the foot soldiers of BKI are being killed.

Wadhawa Singh Babbar is a veteran activist of the BKI group, a banned organization due to the armed struggle against India due the state’s atrocities committed against the Sikhs during 1984 and the over a decade following.

Jagtar Singh Tara used to be a Babbar Khalsa activist but he separated himself from Wadhawa Singh in the last decade and floated his own group, the Khalistan Tiger Force

In January 2015, Tara was arrested in Pattaya, Thailand, by the Thai police after almost a decade of having fled from Chandigarh’s Burail Model Jail, along with Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, Bhai Paramjit Singh Bheora and Dev Lal, when they dug a tunnel to escape.
