CHANDIGARH, Punjab—President of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), S. Simranjit Singh Mann, said that Sehajdhari Sikhs are an important part of the Sikh community and has stated that his party is fully committed to reinstating Sehajdhari Sikhs in the SGPC.  In a press note shared through the official website of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), S. Mann stated that if his party succeeds in the upcoming SGPC elections, a special upper house will be created in the SGPC, along with a lower house.

“Just like other nations have an upper and lower house, a similar structure will be created in the SGPC.  Sehajdhari opinions will be heard in the upper house and we will include Sehajdhari scholars to make sure their voices are heard,” he stated.

Following a parliamentary structure, in the upper house, issues and opinions of the Sehajdhari Sikhs will be given prominence.  “The consent of Sehajdhari Sikhs would be considered important in passing every resolution unanimously,” he added.

Giving a hint at contesting the upcoming SGPC elections, S. Mann added, “The upper house will be constituted immediately after the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) and Sarbat Khalsa organizations win the upcoming SGPC elections.”

Mann said that the current lower house and executive committee of the SGPC had pardoned the Sirsa Cult Chief by destroying Sikh tenets, but with the creation of an upper house, such incidents would be controlled. S. Mann appealed to the Sikh masses to support Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) in the upcoming elections.

Along with S. Mann, the Sikh Sadhbhawan Dal headed by Bhai Baldev Singh Wadala has also announced to contest the upcoming SGPC elections.
