AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Making highly objectionable comments on the principles of Miri-Piri (temporal and spiritual balance) founded by Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, during his visit to Amritsar, former Punjab finance minister and nephew of Parkash Badal, Manpreet Badal who has recently joined Congress, has stirred controversy with his views on Sikhi.
He was interacting with the media persons when he was asked to comment on the Miri-Piri concept in the Sikh religion, he said this concept had lost relevance in present times as secularism is the need of a modern state and our constitution also advocates a separation of politics and religion.
Taking serious note of this, Sikh leaders opined that though Badal family has attempted to mar the sacredness of this concept by saying it has lost relevance is quite condemnable.
“Guru’s principles can never lose relevance and their importance and application will remain forever”, they added.
