Two Drunk Policemen Nabbed by Sikh Sangat Near Rajpura

RAJPURA, Punjab—A video has surfaced online showing two policemen facing the wrath of Sikh Sangat of Basantpura (Sirhand Road) located near Rajpura.  As per information being shared over social media channels, two policemen, namely Baldev Singh and Gurmukh Singh, entered the Gurdwara Sahib under the influence of alcohol.   There are reports that policemen had come to the Gurdwara Sahib with the intention of committing beadbi or disrespect.   After entering the Gurdwara Sahib, both policemen thrashed the Granthi, Bhai Raam Singh, his wife, and daughter-in-law.

At the time of the incident, both policemen were heavily under the influence of alcohol.   The Granthi Singh was severely beaten by the police and his dastar was removed and beard was pulled.

Hearing loud noise from the Gurdwara Sahib, villagers gathered there at once and brought the policemen under control.   They were tied up and severely beaten by the villagers.  Singhs of Damdami Taksal Ajnala also reached the spot to inquire about the incident.

In the meantime, other police officers also arrived at the scene.  There was anguish amongst the Sikh Sangat at the time when police arrived there.  DSP Rajinder Singh requested the Sangat to leave the policemen so they could perform investigations.  He promised to take concrete steps if the policemen were in fact drunk.
