AMRITSAR SAHIB (July 28, 2015)—SGPC President Avtar Makkar has said that the SGPC will file lawsuit against Central Board Secondary Education in court for compelling the Sikh candidates to remove Kirpan and Kara during the AIPMT (All India Pre-Medical Entrance Test) test in Punjab, Chandigarh and Jaipur.
Makkar informed that students from Ludhiana named Dharamvir Singh and Harsimrat Kaur were asked to remove their Kakaars before entering the AIPMT centre at Kendriya Vidyalya No. 1 of Bathinda. Similarly student Jagjit Singh in Alwar was forced to remove his Kara at Test centre. Similarly students in some other cities have also reported such happenings. Makkar said that legal action will be taken against those who dared to exploit the Sikh faith by objecting over the Kakaars.
Makkar appealed the Central and State governments to instruct the universities and boards to avoid building such rules that are against religious harmony of people. He said that India is a multi-religion country and every religion should get respect here.
It is notable that CBSE had announced a strict dress code after Supreme Court’s order to re-conduct the examination following complaints of some students using electronic gadgets to cheat during examinations.
