AMRITSAR SAHIB (July 28, 2015)—A Christian girl named Satyanarayan Dhamani hailing from village Tugalwara of district Gurdaspur has topped the religious examination conducted by the SGPC nationwide. Satyanarayan is a student of grade 8th at the S.K.D. Khalsa Senior Secondary School in village Tugalwara. It is notable that 53,401 students from all over India attended this exam, while 1,666 students from them qualified for scholarship.
On the other hand, a Hindu girl named Rajni Bala has also topped the examination of correspondence course that was conducted by the SGPC.
SGPC has distributed scholarship to toppers who cleared the examination according to predefined perimeters. The candidates standing first, second and third in the exam were honoured by the SGPC President Avtar Makkar. They were given cash scholarships and honorary mementos.
Makkar expressed satisfaction over the performance depicted by the non-Sikh children in the examination. He informed that only girls have secured more than 90% of scholarship quota. The trend of topping the religious examination by students of other religions has raised serious questions about the ‘preachment’ of Sikh religion by the SGPC.
