AMRITSAR, Punjab, India (September 28, 2014)—In a joint operation between the SGPC and the Punjab Police, 9 women have been arrested for theft in Sri Harmandir Sahib. The women were spotted on the CCTV cameras, which eventually led to their arrest. They were seen stealing belongings of pilgrims who had come to visit Sri Harmandir Sahib. The women were allegedly caught with 10,000 rupees, 15 mobile phones, expensive clothing and purses. They were initially caught by the SGPC but were later handed over to the police for further questioning.
