Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh
AMRITSAR SAHIB (March 19, 2014)—A delegation of the Sikh Council UK met with Singh Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh, the appointed Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, to discuss various issues being faced by the Sikh Community in UK, and Europe. The UK Sikh Council’s Head of Operations Bibi Balwinder Kaur, S. Gurmail Singh, and Secretary General Inderjit Singh were the representatives of the Sikh Council UK that met with the Akal Takht Jathedar, and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Executive Team for an hour long meeting.
Giani Gurbachan Singh, and Roop Singh, deliberated with the Sikh Council of UK over various issues being faced by Sikhs, and gurdwaras abroad. Council members asked for the help of Akal Takht Sahib in implementing Sikh Rahit Maryada, the code of conduct and conventions, at various gurdwaras across the country. The Sikh Council of UK also brought forward a number of other cases that required the intervention of Akal Takht Sahib.
Giani Gurbachan Singh assured the council members that very soon he would discuss issues faced by UK’s Sikh community with rest of the Jathedars, or clergy. He stated that Akal Takht Sahib is fully supportive of the Sikh Council UK’s endeavors for the betterment of the Sikh nation.
