
AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Observing sharp wrath among worldwide Sikh masses about the controversial movie ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’, the SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh has imposed ban on ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’. Appealing the Sikh masses to stage peaceful protest against the movie ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’, he has said that the movie won’t be allowed to hit screens now or anytime in future.
Giani Gurbachan Singh has also announced to constitute a ‘Sikh Censor Board’ under the patronage of Sri Akal Takht Sahib in the representatives of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee, Sikh historians, Sikh intellectuals, various Sikhs seminaries, Sant Samaj and film making industry will be taken.
He has said that it would be mandatory for every film make to take permission from the ‘Sikh Censor Board’ before writing script of any Sikhi related movie. “Any movie related to Sikhism would be given nod by Sri Akal Takht Sahib only on the recommendations of this board,” he added.
It is pertinent to note here that the SGPC had already approached Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Information & Broadcasting Minister Mrs. Smriti Irani and Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh to impose ban on the release of movie ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’.
