AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Dr. Santokh Singh, who was elected as president of Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) on March 25, today failed to have the annual budget of Rupees 1.57 billion passed for the next financial year 2018-19 in a general house meeting called at CKD’s headquarter. It is learnt that the budget session couldn’t pursue due to opposition by several members of Chief Khalsa Diwan.
Interacting with media, CKD president Dr. Santokh Singh confirmed the development and informed that the CKD’s executive panel has given nod to ‘on account budget’ for the next three months. He added that the revised budget will be presented after some weeks.
Sources have informed that the newly elected CKD president Dr. Santokh Singh couldn’t even succeed in getting the budget fully presented due to protest by some CKD members of Rajmohinder Singh Majitha’s faction who excused that they weren’t given enough time for reviewing the budget copy.
On the other hand, the ruling faction said that it was impossible for them to provide enough time to the CKD members for reviewing the budget copy as the new president was elected just five days back.
