

TARN TARAN, Punjab—The 25th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Bhai Sukhdev Singh Babbar will be observed at his native village of Dasuwal (Tarn Taran) on August 13. The ex-chief of Babbar Khalsa International attained was killed on August 9, 1992 after being apprehended at his residence in Patiala.
Speaking to Sikh24, Bhai Bhupinder Singh Bhalwan (Germany) and Master Baldev Singh Tarn Taran, shared that preparations to mark the martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Bhai Sukhdev Singh Babbar have been completed. A Sri Akhand Path Sahib would commence on August 11 and will culminate on August 13. Following the culmination of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, renowned Raagi Jathas and Sikh preachers will deliver religious discourse at the ceremony.
Shaheed Bhai Sukhdev Singh Babbar was martyred in a fake encounter on 9 August 1992 when heavily armed policemen stormed had made him surrender after storming into his comfortable villa in the crowded city of Patiala. It is a widespread belief that police ‘cat’ (informer and killer) Gurmeet Pinky, shot him at point blank range, after his capture, to secure the reward of one million rupees, placed on his head by the Indian government. Later, the Police had claimed to have killed Shaheed Bhai Sukhdev Singh Babbar in an armed encounter.
