AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Following the directions by the SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal has appealed the SAD leaders and workers to recite ‘Japji Sahib’ at 9 am on May 14 and perform Ardas for the success of the movement. Notably, the SGPC and DSGMC are jointly going to launch movement for rebuilding of Gurdwara Gyan Godri Sahib at Hardwar on May 14.

In a press note shared with Sikh24, Sukhbir Badal has said that the Shiromani Akali Dal will fully support the movement for rebuilding Gurdwara Gyan Godri Sahib as the sentiments of entire Sikh community were attached to it. He has said that the Shiromani Akali Dal will do everything within reach to ensure the rebuilding of Gurdwara Sahib.

Commenting on the appeal made by Sukhbir Badal, the General Secretary of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) Amrik Singh Ballowal said that Sukhbir Badal was getting diverted towards Sikh issues after losing power.  He added that it was humorous that the Sukhbir Badal was depicting faith in the Gurbani after losing power. He recalled that in the regime of Sukhbir Badal, peacefully protesting Sikhs seeking arrest of sacrilege culprits were attacked with dirty water cannons, canes and bullets in 2015.  “These Sikhs were peacefully reciting Gurbani, but Sukhbir Badal did not consider that,” he said.

He further said that two innocent Sikhs were martyred by the Police in an unprovoked firing opened on peacefully protesting Sikhs at Behbal Klan but instead of delivering justice to the victims, Sukhbir Badal shielded the guilty Police officers.

Amrik Singh Ballowal advised Sukhbir Badal to remain silent on Sikh issues as every Sikh was aware of his role in promotion of anti-Sikh cultism in Punjab and they were not going to trust him again.

It is pertinent to note here that during fourth ‘Udaasi’, the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev Ji had taught lesson of humanity at Haridwar. Gurdwara Gian Godri Sahib was established in the memory of Guru Nanak Sahib’s valuable teachings at Har Ki Paorhi in Haridwar. The Gurdwara was demolished while carrying out the beautification project of Ganga River in 1979.
