
TARN TARAN, Punjab—The District Police of Tarn Taran have unearthed the sacrilege incident of village Manapura (Bhikhiwind) by arresting its conspirator who are said to be a Congress activists. It has come to fore that the arrested culprit Sukhdev Singh son of Pal Singh, who is also native of village Manakpur, committed sacrilege to get the appointed Granthi framed in sacrilege.
Interacting with media on April 6 in Tarn Taran, the Senior Superintendent of Police Harjit Singh informed that around 20 suspected elements were drilled by the Police following which the Police arrested Sukhdev Singh. He further informed that the culprit Sukhdev Singh committed sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to get the appointed granthi (priest) Sarabjit Singh suspended from Gurdwara Sahib. The SSP claimed that Sukhdev Singh has admitted that he committed sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
Superintendent Police (D) Sri Rajinder Kumar Bhardwaj, Deputy Superintendent of Police of Bhikhiwind J.S Nagoke, Deputy Superintendent of Police of Patti A.K Attri, Inspector Sukhwinder Singh (Incharge of CIA Staff) were also accompanying the SSP on this occasion.
Meanwhile, it is being claimed that the arrested culprit Sukhdev Singh was an activist of Congress.
After his arrest, Sukhdev Singh was presented in the court, where no advocate from Patti took up his case. Court sent him to 1 day police remand.
Speaking with Sikh24, Satnam Singh Manava provided details of the incident. He appreciated efforts by the police in arresting the culprit. “Police played an eminent role in this case and they too wanted to unearth the conspiracy and arrest the culprit,” he added. He appealed all Gurdwara managements to install CCTV cameras so such incidents could be halted in future.
