AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—The Supreme Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee has once again asked the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat to reconstruct Gurdwara Gian Godri Sahib at Har Ki Paorhi in Haridwar. SGPC Chief Secretary Harcharan Singh has written a letter to the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat to pay attention towards this.
Referring the letters earlier written by SGPC to U’Khand Chief Minister, Chief Secretary Harcharan Singh has asked the CM Trivendra Singh Rawat to sort out this sensitive issue at the earliest. Apprising the CM with historical importance of the Gurdwara Gian Godri Sahib, Harcharan Singh has asked him to reconstruct demolished Sikh shrine at the earliest and also facilitate adequate space to construct Langar Hall (Free Community Kitchen) inside the Gurdwara premises.
It is pertinent to note here that during fourth ‘Udaasi’, the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev Ji had taught lesson of humanity at Haridwar. Gurdwara Gian Godri Sahib was established in the memory of Guru Nanak Sahib’s valuable teachings at Har Ki Paorhi in Haridwar. The Gurdwara was demolished while carrying out the beautification project of Ganga River.
