SGPC President Instructs Gurdwaras across Punjab to Remain Vigilant and Tackle Gurbani Sacrilege

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Expressing deep concern over the rising incidents of theft and sacrilege in Gurdwaras, SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar has instructed sevadars and Granthis across Punjab to remain vigilant.

Prof. Badungar has asked state-wide common masses to support the Gurdwara committees in ensuring the security of Gurdwaras.

In a press note shared with Sikh24 on January 25, Prof. Badungar stated that some miscreants were performing incidents of theft and sacrilege of Gurbani scriptures to disturb communal harmony of Punjab.

He mentioned that SGPC has advised all Gurdwaras across the state to ensure no such incidents take place.

Just days ahead of 2017 elections, incidents of Gurbani sacrilege are coming to light once again.  Recently, Gurbani Scripture of Sukhmani Sahib was vandalized by a Delhi based man in the periphery of sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib.

Several such incidents took place in 2015 and 2016, following which Sarbat Khalsa to unify the Panth and tackle growing problems.
