FATEHGARH SAHIB, Punjab— The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal addressed the conference at Fatehgarh Sahib, marking the martyrdom of Shote Sahibzaade on yesterday. The SAD patriarch and Chief Minister, Parkash Badal projected his party as the sole protector of Panthik interests. Claiming his government of SAD-BJP alliance as the best government in India, the CM Badal said that the alliance had served the Punjab at its best and no one could replace it.

Badal further said that the poor people in his regime were given special relief via the initiation of multiple welfare schemes but the reformation of SAD-BJP led government was necessary in Punjab for the continuity of these schemes. If we are voted out of power all the welfare schemes will also be stopped”, he threatened.

Speaking of sacrifices made by Shiromani Akali Dal to serve the state’s interests, CM Badal blamed Congress for all the injustices with Punjab during the last few decades of 20th century. “Chandigarh was snatched from us, attempts were made to rob our river waters through the SYL-canal, our sacred shrine Sri Harmandir Sahib was attacked by Congress”, he shouted.

Playing the Panthik card, CM Badal also quoted ‘Patta Patta Singhan da Vairi’ line of a song that means Sikhs have opponents everywhere.

Taking on AAP indirectly, the Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal said that the AAP was a party of drunkard and vagabonds who have no respect for the Sikh religion.

Cornering the Punjab Congress head Captain Amarinder Singh on farmer’s debt issue, Sukhbir Badal appealed to farmers to occupy Amarinder’s palace in Patiala if he remains unsuccessful in writing off of their debts.

Sukhbir Badal claimed that the constitution of SAD was aimed at facilitating justice to the poor and fighting for the pride of Panth. “Today we are serving, tomorrow someone else will take command”, he added.

SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar also spoke at the event. He mandated the need of togetherness of religion and politics by saying that religion can’t prosper without politics and the politics cannot be steered correctly without religion.
