
CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Aam Admi Party’s state convener Gurpreet Singh Waraich has said that the AAP will not disclose the face of it’s Chief Minister before the assembly polls in Punjab. Notably, the AAP was being targeted by the opposing parties Congress and ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) for not disclosing its CM face.
Interacting with media on December 23, convener Gurpreet Singh Waraich said that the scenario of Punjab was different than Goa. He added that the assembly seats in Punjab numbered 117 while the assembly seats in Goa were 40. He said that the AAP candidates in Goa chose their CM face by the way of consensus within the party fold however in Punjab the scene is different. “Elected AAP candidates will choose their leader (CM candidate) after the polls”, he added.
Waraich further announced that the party was working on its final list candidates for assembly polls and the list will be released next week.
Reacting to a query pertaining to the nomination of Punjabi Singer Harbhajan Mann from Mohali, Waraich said that all decisions related to ticket allocation resides with Party’s core leadership. It is notable here that the seat of Mohali has been vacated by Advocate Himmat Singh Shergill (AAP’s legal cell Incharge in Punjab) to contest election against Akali Minister Bikram Singh Majithia from Majitha assembly segment.
