
NAHAN, Himachal Pradesh—An elderly disabled Sikh man in Himachal Pradesh had his hair forcibly cur by radical Hindu elements. The incident occurred in the Nahan area of Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh during the evening hours of December 23.
According to sources, the Sikh victim is deaf and dumb and lives in Mohalla Govindgarh of Nahan. Sikh residents of Mohalla Govindgarh have reportedly begun protesting justice as soon as the incident came into light.
Sikh24 has learnt that the local police have arrested three suspects in regards to the matter. They have been indicted under section 295-A (instigating hurt to religious sentiments) of the Indian Penal Code. The matter has come under the notice of the Deputy Commissioner’s and police are taking statements from the Sikh victim.
It has come into light that the local Police of Nahan have also arrested five Sikh youths of Mohalla Govindgarh, accusing them of setting alight the home of one of the accused during same night. The police have charged them under various sections of Cr.P.C (Code of Criminal Procedure) and IPC filing an FIR in which the Police have shown that an ASI (Assistant Sub-Inspector) Madan Singh was injured by these Sikh youths. The Sikh youths have been identified as Sethi Singh, Preet Pal, Kishan Singh, Pappu Singh and Kirta Singh.
