Professor Kirpal Singh Badungar (Current SGPC President)

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Following the first meeting of the newly constituted SGPC’s executive committee on November 12, President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar announced at Teja Singh Samundari Hall that all the Serais in Gurdwaras affiliated to SGPC will be made online.

It is commonly known that Sikh devotees face great inconvenience when availability at rest houses after reaching Amritsar Sahib from afar. Currently, the rooms in Gurdwaras are especially reserved for people with political influence or affiliation, whilst regular devotees are given the excuse of there being no space in the rest houses. With online booking, the booking for rooms in rest houses of Gurdwaras is likely to become more transparent.

Badungar also informed that the SGPC was committed to controlling the rising incidents of desecration of Holy Scriptures of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. He said that the SGPC was going to take some solid steps with the help of local Gurdwara committees to avoid desecration incidents in future. “The SGPC will maintain a record of every Holy Scripture of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji installed all over the world.” he added.

The SGPC President also announced the starting of a new pro-environment campaign with the help of Baba Sewa Singh Ji (Head of Dera Kar Sewa, Khadoor Sahib) and Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal.

“We will take up the matter of installing a corridor from Dera Baba Nanak to Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib with the Pakistan government’ said the President of the presiding Sikh institute.
