AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Sacked ‘Panj Piares’ of Sri Akal Takht Sahib today held a meeting to deliberate upon the preparations for Sarbat Khalsa 2016 scheduled to be held at Talwandi Sabo on November 10. During the meeting, the ‘Panj Piares’ concluded to follow directions made by Akal Takht Jathedar Jagtar Singh Hawara to them for leading the ‘Sarbat Khalsa-2016’ event. They held the meeting at the vicinity of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
In a press note shared with Sikh24, the Panj Singhs have said that they are ready to play their role to prepare a constitution for the scheduled Sarbat Khalsa 2016 event as per the Sikh tenets. “We are also in touch with prominent religious, social, political and educational institutions and we will use their impact to bring all the Sikh factions on a common platform,” the press note states.
Foundly referred to as “Punj Piare” even though they were suspended by the SGPC, these Singhs have called upon a meeting of worldwide Sikh organizations, including Taksals, Nihang Singh Jathebandis, Missionary Colleges, Singh Sabhas, Ragis, Dhadis, preachers and others on October 18 to get their views about Sarbat Khalsa 2016.
It is pertinent to note here that the S. Simranjit Singh Mann led faction was active to reinstate its hold to lead Sarbat Khalsa 2016 proceeding in contrast of Jathedar Jagtar Singh Hawara who wants the ‘Panj Piares’ to lead the Sikh congregation.
Reacting to the earlier letter of Jathedar Jagtar Singh Hawara, S. Simranjit Singh Mann had said that either the letter was not authentic or Jathedar Hawara had been misguided. To clear the confusion, Jathedar Dhian Singh Mand and Prof. Mohinderpal Singh had tried to meet Jathedar Hawara in Tihar Jail but they didn’t succeed.
Notably, the names of Interim Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Bhai Dhian Singh Mand, Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal and Jathedar Amrik Singh Ajnala have been specially mentioned in the press note inviting them to attend the ‘Sarbat Khalsa-2016’ event.
