AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—In relation to a defamation case lodged by Revenue Minister of Punjab Bikram Majithia, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today appeared before a local court of Amritsar. Majithia had moved a defamation case against Kejriwal for terming him kingpin of drug mafia in Punjab. While several prominent AAP leaders such as Bhagwant Mann, Sanjay Singh, Ashish Khetan and Baljinder Kaur accompanied Kejriwal, thousands of his supporters from all over Punjab were also present.
Following formal proceedings, the court sanctioned bail to Arvind Kejriwal. Next hearing in the case will be on October 15.
Addressing the public gathering outside the Court complex, Kejriwal reiterated his views over prevalence of drugs in Punjab. He said that the drugs were being traded in streets and schools of Punjab and the Revenue Minister Bikram Majithia was kingpin of the trade.
“Bikram Majithia should arrest me within 6 months, otherwise, his arrest in drug mafia is unavoidable after AAP comes into power,” Kejriwal said.
On being contacted by Sikh24, Majithia claimed that Kejriwal would be behind bars soon. Terming the allegations levelled by Kejriwal as challenge for the whole Punjabi community, Majithia said that the masses of Punjab ought to oppose Kejriwal for labelling Punjabis as drug addicted people.
