ANANDPUR SAHIB, Punjab—Bhai Sukhjit Singh Khose of the Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee has levelled charges against the SGPC for not checking the vendors at Hola Mohalla smagams. He alleged that drugs and other types of intoxicants are being sold by SGPC approved vendors in allotted places.
He said that while “bhang” is openly sold at such places, this year, other types of intoxicants are also not being controlled. He said that alcohol, smack, and other drugs are being sold openly and the administration is not doing anything. He alleged that shopkeepers who typically sell jewelry and other things have been caught by the Satkar Committee selling alcohol and drugs.
“We have warned local SGPC officials several times, however they have not shown any interest,” Bhai Khose told Sikh24. “The Satkar Committee will be carrying out checks if SGPC fails to take action,” he added.
Bhai Khose stated that the Hola Mohalla is a sacred festival of the Sikhs and the SGPC must ensure that such vendors are not allotted space to sell intoxicants.
