
FAZILKA, Punjab—A new incident of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in Abohar has surprised the Sikh masses. Two ‘Angs’ of Sri Guru Granth Sahib numbering 633-636 were found torn by a miscreant. The person responsible for this act was nabbed once by the police and local Sikhs.
District Administration comprising Tehsildar Manjit Singh Bhandari, Sub-Tehsildar Baljinder Singh Sidhu, SSP Swapan Sharma, SP Harjit Singh, DSP (Abohar) Gurbhej Singh, DSP (Balluana) Jasbir Singh, SHO Balkar Singh of Police Station-I & SHO Abhinav Chauhan of Police Station-II, SHO (Rural) Kuldeep Sharma and others immediately rushed to Gurdwara Sahib.
Appointed Granthi Mukhtiar Singh informed them that as he started reading ‘Hukamnama’ after Rehras Sahib at 6 pm on October 26, he found ‘Angs’ ranging 633-636 missing from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Police have started a thorough probe into the incident to nab the responsible culprits. SHO Balkar Singh of Police Station -I has announced reward of Rs. 50,000 from his own salary for providing solid information about the sacrilege committers. Police have also promised to keep confidential the identification of informer.
