AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Various human rights bodies have today written an open letter to Sikh nation to expose the real face of Parkash Badal led Punjab government in case of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.
In the letter, the bodies deny the story told by the Punjab government that the conspiracy of committing sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib was engineered in foreign countries.
Khalra Mission Organization (KMO), Manukhi Adhikar Insaaf Sangharsh Committee (MAISC), Punjab Human Rights Organization (PHRO) and Lawyers for Justice and Democratic Rights (LJDR) have written this letter which is signed by Parmjit Kaur Khalra, wife of human rights activist Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra, Baba Darshan Singh, Advocate Balwant Singh Dhillon and advocate Jagdeep Singh Randhawa.
In the letter, human rights activists alleged that fearing anger of the people, erupted over the pardoning of the Sacha Sauda chief by appointed Jathedars and the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib, the Badal government ‘fabricated’ a resolve to the issue by arresting innocent brothers from the Panjgrain town.
“Despite witnesses in the state are terming the arrested youth as innocent, a special investigation team, constituted by the state government under the supervision of ADGP Sahota, is leveling false allegations against them”, the group said.
“The government presented a similar line of response at the time of the Police murder of advocate Jaswant Singh Khalra who had investigated evidencein to extra-judicial killings by the state. The governement alleged foreign hands behind that”, they added, making an appeal to the masses to make their own decisions about the dirty tricks of the government.
The letter further reads, “People of Punjab have to wake up now and cannot be trapped emotionally by the government”.
