AMRITSAR SAHIB (July 27, 2015)—Appointed Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh has taken strict notice of the CBSE’s condition of removing kakaars while entering the AIPMT test centres for Sikh candidates. Jathedar said that Sikhs are being treated like slaves in India. He warned the authorities to correct their decision in order to avoid strong reaction from Sikh community.
He warned the Central government to instruct the Boards and Universities to limit their attempts to exploit Sikh faith otherwise it might result in serious consequences.
Along with Sikh candidates, those from other religious backgrounds were also denied entrance to the exam because of their religious articles.
Supreme Court justice H L Dattu who is nutritious for his statements aimed at different religions courted controversy when he advised Muslim women to not wear hijab during examination. “On a day when you have to sit for an exam, you are being asked not to wear it. Your faith won’t disappear if you appear for the exam without a scarf.” Religious Christian students also had to face harassment.
