LUDHIANA, Punjab (June 2, 2015)—Hurting Sikh sentiments deeply, some elements from Congress party today tore posters of Shaheed Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale whose martyrdom is being observed on June 6 at Sri Akal Takht Sahib and other places across the world.
Challenging the banner of Damdami Taksal (Mehta), the communal elements removed the photo of Sant Bhindranwale from the June 6 banners. These banners were installed by the Sikh seminary in all cities/town in Punjab to provide the information to Sikh Sangat about the Shaheedi Samagam being organized at Damdami Taksal’s head quarter Gurdwara Gurdarshan Parkash to remember the brave Sikh warriors who attained martyrdom in June 1984 attack materialized by Indian army. On the right side of the banner, photo of Sant Bhindranwale was also been printed.
Pertinently, the Congress men released their photos and press note of highly provocative move. In the press note, names of Punjab Congress secretary Parminder Mehta, organizational secy Sarvjit, Sazeeb Sehgal, Satish Gupta, Rajiv Kundra, Saurav Malhotra, Pankaj Sood, Tikshan Mehta, Ravinder, Dishant Pasi etc. are mentioned.
They termed Sant Bhindranwale who is highly respectable figure for Sikhs, as “enemy of nation”. They demanded Shaheedi Samagam be banned.
All the Sikhs across the world have strongly condemned the move of the party which is considered main accused of 1984 Sikh genocide.
