AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab (April 12, 2015)—Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Makkar has written a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Information and broadcasting minister Arun Jaitli wherein he urged them to ban controversial Hindi movie ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’ in view of its blasphemy against Sikh religion.
In the letter, he pointed out that while giving clearance to the film, no Sikh member was included in the panel of Indian Censor Board, nor was an approval of the supreme Sikh body was sought by the board. He said producer of the film Hariner Sikka misled the people that they got permission from Sri Akal Takht Sahib and SGPC for the film.
Makkar said no such scene should be depicted in the movie wherein first Sikh Guru Nanak Dev to be shown in the physical form even any of the family member of Guru Nanak , as all these things are against Sikh tenets.
