CHANDIGARH, Punjab (February 13, 2015)—The release of Sikh detainees is being regularly influenced by the Supreme Court’s internal decision to implement a polite attitude towards the political prisoners.
Punjab and Haryana High Court has again postponed the debate on the release of Bhai Gurmeet Singh Engineer and Bhai Shamsher Singh Shera languishing in Burail Jail for 18 years, by arguing that this subject is under discussion of Supreme Court.
It is notable that Punjab & Haryana High Court had postponed the debate on this petition by a time period of two and half months respectively on August 28 and November 11, 2014. It is being expected that the Constitutional Bench might sit under leadership of Chief Justice of India, but this still has not happened. Justice Ashutosh Mohanta and Justice Raj Rahul have now postponed the next debate to March 20.
