CHANDIGARH, Punjab (November 21, 2014)—Bhai RP Singh, Sarbpreet Singh and Parminder Singh from Sikh Relief (SOPW) and Professor Mehar Singh Malhi, took further action to expedite Shamsher Singh’s parole release. His co-accused and fellow inmates at Burail Jail, Lakhwinder Singh and Gurmeet Singh, have already come home on a month long parole, but Shamsher Singh’s application had not progressed. Therefore, Sikh Relief met with SSP Hardial Singh and DC Varun Ruzam at the Patiala Deputy Commissioner’s office and got the application approved and sent onwards to the jail authority. Shamsher Singh will now be able to return home for his daughters wedding in a few weeks time and fulfil his role as the father of the bride. Our team headed straight for the family home to personally deliver the good news. Shamsher Singh’s family were delighted and expressed their gratitude to Sikh Relief and the Sangat for standing by them and following this matter through to conclusion.
